If you had the chance to travel out of the country, what will be your interest or need for traveling out.
A tourist is someone who makes a trip away from home for any reason or purpose - leisure, business or any other purpose and this trip lasts more than 24 hours and doesn't exceed a year.
Their need are the reasons for travelling and there are great ways to identify different types of tourists such as tourist profiling.
Tourist profiling has to do with a summary of the facts about what tourists want and expect form the travel experience.
Tourists have a wide range of budgets and tastes and everything has been streamlined to cater for each and everyone of them.
- Leisure and Holiday Tourists: these category of tourists are very popular. They usually travel for fun, rest and relaxation while having a good time away from their usual routine. If you travel to the Obudu Resort in Calabar and just spend time there, you're a leisure tourist.
- Business Tourists: they are just there for BUSINESS! Nothing else. They travel to attend meetings, conferences, seminars, exhibitions and any special events related to work or the business world. As a sales representative, you can travel to Trade fairs and also promote your product.
Bleisure is going on a business trip and making provisions for the leisure aspects of tourism within the business trip.
- Health/ Medical Tourists: when you travel out for any health related reason, you are a medical tourist. The reputation of the country or budget consideration may influence your decision to travel out. Most specialist surgeries require you to travel to countries like India or Germany, Brazil is good for low cost plastic surgery, Panama have excellent cheap healthcare, etc.
- Religious Tourists: another huge chunk of tourists worldwide fall into this category. Adherents of different religion do travel to visit or go on pilgrimage to holy sites revered by their religious beliefs. Hajj to Mecca, Pilgrimage to Jerusalem, visit to the Vatican even monasteries and cathedrals.
- Sport Tourists: sport fans and enthusiasts fall under this category. The next FIFA World Cup is in Qatar and taking place next year. A lot of people will definitely travel to go and support their favourites and be live as the action takes place. Other sporting events include: Wimbledon Tennis Championship, US Open, World Golf Championship, etc
- Cultural Tourists: different countries have different cultures unique to them. A lover of different cultures can travel to have a personal experience of these amazing cool cultures. Culture Tourists basically embrace the culture of the host country. Chinese travelling down here to witness our rich heritage maybe witness our Eko festival here in Nigeria.
- Incentive Tourists: as workers or employees, you do get rewarded for meeting up targets and for hard work and diligence in carrying out your duties to your very best. This rewards may come in form of increased work benefits, promotion or even a paid vacation - a paid trip for the holidays. Imagine the happiness and fulfillment!!! From helping your firm to seal a deal as a broker.
- Education Tourists: students or anyone who wishes to pursue further studies are found here in this category. They travel to study or even earn a qualification/ certification. This also includes attending workshops aimed at learning new skills or improvement.
Food Tourists: as a foodie like me, you can travel to sample dishes and exquisite cuisines from other climes while touring the country. Tho the focus is on food and drink but it doesn't hurt to explore the host country. Amma looking forward to some French cuisines 🤗
- Adventure Tourists: the excitement and thrill is what pumps their body. Want an unusual and some titillating experience, you can embark on an adventure tourism focusing on difficult and 'dangerous' activities aimed at pushing you outta ya comfort zone. Rock climbing, bungee jumping, water rafting, etc. Wanna spice up your travel, then this is definitely for you.
